The 2nd annual CT Fish Nerd Smallmouth Camp starts Friday August 16th, 2024 at 4:00pm! This is a weekend long kayak fishing and camping excursion in Connecticut's Housatonic River Valley for up to 8 participants. Several stretches of the Housatonic River will be visited, primarily targeting smallmouth bass and northern pike, with the possibility of catching carp, trout, largemouth bass and more. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest smallmouth bass & biggest northern pike caught over the course of the weekend, so bring a measuring device! Two tenting campsites at Housatonic Meadows Campground in Sharon, CT. have been reserved from Friday 8/16 thru Sunday evening 8/18. Ideally, participants will supply their own pedal drive/motorized kayak and fishing gear, but CT Fish Nerd can outfit up to 2 participants with a Hobie Kayak and fishing gear for an additional cost (See Both Sign Up Options below). Participants must bring their own camping equipment and are responsible for their own food aside from dinners, which will be provided both Friday and Saturday night. Snacks and bottled water will also be provided over the course of the weekend, but it wouldn't hurt to have your own supplies to rely on. Below is a list of everything you'll need to bring, and a list of what will be provided by CT Fish Nerd. A full itinerary for the trip and more information about the surrounding area will be shared after participants sign up. Keep in mind, this is a very quiet and sparsely settled part of the state, so modern amenities and hubs to obtain supplies are somewhat limited. Last year's event was a great time, and I'm hoping this year's is even better!
